Alcan Highway and Gensis 7:12

After spending a few hours last night revising the stops to reduce our miles per day, today would be the most miles traveled to date, 375.  Our ride started in Grande Cache, Alberta and we arrived in Dawson Creek, BC near lunch.  Dawson Creek and the start of the Alaskan Highway is a bucket list item for me.  Standing under the '0' mile maker was awesome.  While at the marker, we met a retired teacher from Denver ridng a BMW to Tok and a KTM rider from San Fran on his way back from Fairbanks.  The skies were partly cloudy but warm.

Genesis 7:12 And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.

By the time we ate lunch, we turned north and of course, clouds..black, thick and intimidating.  We rode into the eye of the storm and 2 solid hours of rain.  Rain that makes the Wyoming rain on day one look like a sprinkle.  At one time it was raining so hard that I couldn't see the center line. Unfortunately there wasn't a safe place to pull off.  The truck traffic on the Alcan is busy, logging trucks and tanker trucks on a two lane road.  After two hours and a severe thunderstorm warning, we shacked up for the night at a road side cabin.  Staying in the cabin next to us is a BMW rider going to Fairbanks.  The AM forecast doesn't look promising, and it is raining like a typhoon as I type this post.  So far our trip has been full of adventure!

Rain, rain go away....
